CBS announced Tuesday their preliminary lineup of games that will be televised during the 2020 SEC on CBS season. 7 games have been slated in advance of the 12-week, 10-game, conference only schedule.
While 5 games will be filled following standard “SEC on CBS game of the week” protocols, the choice of the initial matchups planned for broadcast are not too surprising.
I do think, however, that CBS missed the boat on Week 1. In what seems to be a hat tip to the 2019 National Champion LSU Tigers, there are certainly better games during kickoff weekend. (25) Tennessee @ South Carolina or Kentucky @ (11) Auburn would have been my choice for much more competitive, interesting games.
The primetime games during 2020 will be fantastic. UGA facing Alabama in Tuscaloosa for the first time since 2007 will surely bring back some memories for all fans. It is great to see CBS embrace this matchup and slot it for an 8pmET kickoff.
Alabama at LSU, on Masters weekend, is sure to be a memorable event. In what has become one of the premier duels of every college football season, you can be sure this will be one of the highest rated games of the season. Where will you be when Jim Nantz throws it from Augusta, GA to Baton Rouge, LA?
Auburn/Alabama will most definitely be a CBS choice. So will Alabama/Tennessee. At this point, we are all used to the Crimson Tide being shoved in our faces at any given opportunity. Can’t say they haven’t earned it!
Which games are you most exited for this season?
TRUMP SPEAKS WITH BIG 10 COMMISSIONER KEVIN WARREN
One of the most back-and-forth situations in the world of college football right now is the predicament that the Big 10 has found themselves in after canceling all 2020 fall sports.
With a lack of leadership, transparency, communication, and conviction - the Big 10 seems to have a new rumor or storyline floating in regards to whatever the hell is going on at their HQ in Chicago, during any given day.
Student-athletes suing the conference, schools threatening to find alternative ways to play, Commissioner Kevin Warren publishing a public letter 8 days after groundbreaking decisions are made - every instance has led to more questions rather than definitive answers.
Enter: President Trump.
Amazing.
Wherever you stand on this particular issue, you know my thoughts.
To say that the decision to cancel football was for “player health & safety”, while in the same breath stating that you are planning for 20-24 games being played in 12 months, is laughable.
Trump knows this is a winning issue for him. If “HE” were to “save football” for the midwestern region this fall, it would undoubtedly help his campaign, save any catastrophic breakdowns.
Add another notch to the “2020 has been insane” belt.
At this point, let’s just get to September 26th and hope as many teams as possible can safely play football!
